Trigger Point Therapy & Neuromuscular
Both Trigger Point Therapy and Neuromuscular massage is used in conjunction with Deep tissue massage to achieve pain relief to target areas of the body. The therapist will perform this massage on a massage table using arms, knuckles, elbows, and sometimes special tools to work on specific areas of the body. The objective will be a focused massage and could take up to an hour just on one specific area that needs relief. These techniques are used to provide relief from a number of pain symptoms such as:
- Low back pain
- Carpal Tunnel
- Thoracic Outlet syndrome
- Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) disorders
- Headaches and migraines
- Chronic neck and shoulder pain
- Frozen Sholuder
- Golfer/Tennis elbow
- Upper/Lower Cross sydrome
- Plantar Fasciitis
- and more!
What is a trigger point? It is a tight contracted nodule in muscle that refers pain to other parts of the body. For example, a trigger point in your chest region can cause tingling & numbness in your hand. Another point in your glutes can cause pain racing down the leg. The pain can be sharp & intense, or dull & achey. Trigger Point Therapy is designed to alleviate the source of that pain through static compression and short massage strokes of specific areas.
Neuromuscular for the most part is just another name for Trigger Point therapies. However, the goal for neuromuscular can be somewhat more specific during the massage session. For example, working on specific trigger points to correct postural imbalances (shoulders hunched forward, can't turn your head in one direction) is used to achieve pain relief.
Getting a Neuromuscular/Trigger Point massage can significantly reduce chronic pain. Some see a dramatic reduction in their pain after just one treatment. My own clients have mentioned to me that this type of massage has helped where many other techniques have failed in the relief of their pain. On the fence? What do you have to lose? If you're in pain, this may be a good option to help in your recovery. Easy online scheduling HERE.
